As a wise man once said...
"...I can tell my whole life story, here we go- At age 6 I was born without a face."
-- Arin "Egoraptor" Hanson
In a very short description, the existence of Lucia's Cipher is an absurdity.
A confluence of individuals that share love for code, and an insatiable curiosity.
One that, in time, grew into a company with strong stances on policies on privacy,
security, and preserving users' right to software that's free, as in freedom, forever.
2010: The Simple Time
June. There was no group. Just Alex that loved to tinker with and play games, a lot.
During a game he met Awakening that was hosting and experimenting with mods on a game server.
Together they tinkered with everything. Deconstruct, modify, rebuild, repeat. That's how they learned.
Game scripts, static web page design, media editing... Little pieces of everything, everywhere.
2013: The Polar Box
We weren't always a software development focused group.
Our actual start was as a subsidiary graphics design branch of a creator's club called Korobka.
Also known as The Box.
At the time we were called Aurora Project and we dealed with static digital media, images.
This is where we picked up tons of experience in Adobe Photoshop.
2014: The Mellow Dusk
Korobka rapidly grew inactive, and Aurora Project with it.
We were very young, people changed, lives changed and we found new interests.
Graphics design lost the appeal it once had. So we turned to web design.
The focus might have changed but the creative drive was the same.
We wanted to MAKE things.
We experimented with popular CMS platforms like WordPress.
This allowed us to accumulate experience in UI and UX organization, content management,
and eventually search engine optimization practices.
2015: The Dry Canyon
We were students and college responsibilities just ramped up very hard.
Our curiosity started drifting in pursuit of new challenges that didn't need such a large time investment.
We started doing video editing for a music-focused YouTube channel we started.
As well as a gaming channel called Pixel Squad that never really took off.
We did however gain experience from working in Adobe After Effects.
2016: The Red Blaze
There are times when some people just have that one moment in life
where they make a decision, a plan, find something to change, to make
them.
"Motivation is not easy to come by, by any means really...
Mine was less than pure, noble or exemplery."
-- Aleksa "Alex" Radović
Later that year
Alex met
Valeth
who got engaged in a
Discord Bot project that
LC was starting at the time.
An irreplacable part of the staff ever since. He also brought a much stricter and well organized development environment
guidelines with him and whipped us into shape.
2018: The Blue Signature
On the 6th of November
Lucia's Cipher became a legally registered Software Development Company
under the name LUCIA. And Lucia's Cipher got branded as
LUCIA's official Open Source Community Branch.
We'll see where we go from here, for years to come!
